PAINTING | “Binoculars”

Posted in painting

Throughout the course of last year I had some fun experimenting with metal and decided to start a collection of smaller paintings made out of wood and steel as a supplement to my larger Retrograde Series. My goal is to release 1 or 2 of these a month throughout the year, and this is the initial piece in this new collection.

“Binoculars” was created with oil and acrylic on hand-chiseled plywood, and stenciled enamel on oxidized steel. The painting consists of three sections held together by 1/8 inch thick steel brackets. The back is stained, waxed and includes a keyhole slot cut out of maple for immediate hanging.
