PAINTING | “Rice Krispies Retrograde”

Growing up one of my fave toys was Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe, so after talking with the collector and agreeing on what elements to include in the painting, I was stoked to bring this commission to life. “Rice Krispies Retrograde” is the latest addition to the Retrograde Series, and second designed to emulate a cereal boxtop. It features the Gundam robot MSZ-010 and the G.I. Joe figure Snake Eyes. The background is inspired by elements of a Rice Krispies box from 1973. Each panel measures 24″ x 32″ (middle panel 36″h) plus attached cutouts. The entire piece is hand-painted with oils & acrylics on hand-chiseled 3/4″ thick plywood, and archivally coated. The back is stained, varnished and includes the secret message “Friends Climb High” stenciled on oxidized steel plates (see photo). SOLD
